18th Feb 2022
Step 1: Verify Compatibility:
Ensure that your Bedrock edition of Minecraft is the Windows 10 version, as this is the edition that allows for cross-play and access to Java servers.
Step 2: Download Minecraft Java Edition:
To access Java servers, you will need to have Minecraft Java Edition installed on your computer. Purchase and download Minecraft Java Edition from the official Minecraft website.
Step 3: Joining a Java Server:
Launch Minecraft Java Edition and navigate to the multiplayer server browser. Browse through the available servers or enter the IP address of a specific Java server you wish to join.
Step 4: Note the IP Address and Port:
Take note of the IP address and port number of the Java server you want to play on. You will need this information to connect to the server from Bedrock.
Step 5: Download and Install GeyserMC:
GeyserMC is a plugin that allows Bedrock players to connect to Java servers. Download the GeyserMC plugin from the official website. Follow the installation instructions provided to set up GeyserMC on your computer.
Step 6: Configure GeyserMC:
After installing GeyserMC, open the configuration file. Locate the "remote" section and enter the IP address and port number of the Java server you want to connect to. Save the configuration file.
Step 7: Launch Minecraft Bedrock Edition:
Launch Minecraft Bedrock Edition on your Windows 10 device. In the main menu, click on "Play" and then "Servers."
Step 8: Add a New Server:
Click on "Add Server" and enter a name for the server. In the "Address" field, enter "localhost" or the IP address of your computer if the Java server is hosted locally. Leave the port field blank or enter the default port number for Minecraft (25565).
Step 9: Connect to the Java Server:
Select the server you just added from the server list and click "Join Server." Minecraft Bedrock Edition will now attempt to connect to the Java server using the GeyserMC plugin.
Step 10: Enjoy Playing on Java Servers:
Once connected, you can now play on the Java server using your Bedrock edition. Interact with the Java Minecraft community, participate in server activities, and enjoy the unique features and gameplay offered by Java servers.
Note: It's important to keep in mind that not all Java server features may be available or fully functional when accessed through Bedrock using the GeyserMC plugin. Some server-specific plugins or mechanics may not be compatible, and there may be differences in gameplay experience between Java and Bedrock editions.
